Altars, Part 1

Updated: Aug 14

My travel altar. I never leave home without it if I’m traveling for an extended period of time.

It is a portal to the divine. It anchors me to the elements, nature, and all that is soothing my nervous system and soul.

In my very first shamanic studies course with don Oscar Miro-Quesada’s Peruvian PMT (Pachakuti Mesa) Tradition of Cross Cultural Shamanism, we learned how to build a simple (yet multi-layered) altar:

Stone = (earth/physical)

Shell = (water/emotional)

Feather = (air/spiritual)

Candle = (fire/mental)

Center = (aether/soul)

This altar honors the four directions, the five elements, and corresponds to our various energy bodies. Each direction has a sacred guardian and animal totem associated with it. It is 3D/4D/5D. It is a representation of heaven and earth and operates in a multidimensional space. It is vast.

Build an altar. Find objects that resonate /speak to you. Create ritual and ceremony and begin the journey of living with shamanic consciousness in every day life. Connect to your inner shaman and the wise healer that you are
